If you are looking for ways to stay connected with God while at home, we have an arts and crafts project for your child to do! Rather than buying a prayer box outright, this DIY project adds a personal touch to her very own prayer box. Arts and crafts are a great way to spend time together while incorporating faith into your home life. Let your child use her imagination to create something so special. Take a look at how simple yet fun it is to make!

What You’ll Need
Let your child decorate the box however she’d like, so she can make her own. On the top or the flap, she can add her favorite religious quote or Bible verse. The project only requires a few materials, which you likely already have, including:

  • Color-Me Box or an Altoid container

  • Decorative paper

  • Ribbon

  • Markers

  • Gems

  • Mod podge

Add Prayers
The prayer box is a creative way to encourage your child to direct her thoughts and prayers and build her relationship with God. Ask her what she would like to ask Him, and let her know the box helps keep it confidential. The phrases can be as simple as, “Prayer Guides Me,” or a Bible verse like, “When you call me, and come and prayer to me, I will listen to you” (Jeremiah 29:12). Have her write something down every day and place it in the box, in addition to her usual prayer ritual. The prayer box is a gentle reminder that God is always listening.

Virtual Sunday School
Perfect for a Sunday School project, we recommend hosting a virtual class using Zoom, Google Hangouts, or Facebook Messenger. Round up your child’s peers so they can do the project together! Teamwork helps build that connection to church.
