Making the Most of Catholic Education

By attending a Catholic school, your child has a unique opportunity to learn in an environment that promotes faith, academic achievement, and service to the community. Help your child have the best educational experience by bringing the lessons home. At our Osceola County Catholic schools, we work to help children reach their full potential. Here are ways you can help your child make the most out of their Catholic education:

Practice Faith at Home

Every day, your child learns something new. Talk to your child about what she has learned, asking questions and showing genuine interest. Some days, it will be fun facts about rocks, and on other days, deep questions about a recent Bible lesson will emerge. Help her explore and develop her faith at home, and be ready to answer any questions that may come up. Just like her teachers, you are there to help guide your child navigate her life.

Be Adaptable

Some situations call for adapting to the times. With the help of our students and their families, our Catholic schools offered students educational stability amid constant changes in 2020. We quickly moved classes online when the situation called for it, then rearranged our virtual and in-person classrooms to keep our schools safe and engaged. All students and staff continue to wear masks when not social distancing, and they take their lunches outside. Working as a team with students and their families, we have kept COVID-19 cases and learning gaps low.

Help with Homework

At our schools, we challenge students with rigorous academics. Chances are, your child will need guidance when it comes to studying or solving difficult problems. Provide a quiet space for your child to do homework, and if she appears to be struggling, ask if she needs help. Be prepared to answer questions, and encourage her to do her best. We believe in building up well-rounded students and future leaders. That foundation starts at home.

Encourage Acts of Service

Spreading God’s love through acts of service to the community is an integral part of Catholic education. To continue this at home, consider ways your family can help those in need. Maybe you can build care packages for homeless shelters or write thank you letters to healthcare workers. There are many ways to encourage your child to do her part to help the world, and the world will always need it. Through Catholic education, your child can thrive at school and at home.

At our Osceola County Catholic schools, our main goal is to instill leadership and compassion in our students through rigorous academics and a foundation of faith. We foster an atmosphere of care and an environment of high expectations and effective discipline. To learn more about what makes us different, contact us here.
