Jeanne Morgan Helps Second-Graders Grow in Mind, Body, and Soul at Holy Redeemer Catholic School

What she loves about her Catholic school: “Holy Redeemer has such a mix of students and families. I love the backgrounds and cultures all mixing together in the classroom, creating an incredible ‘school family.’”

Our Osceola private schools are more than just educational institutions; we are a family growing together. Our students tend to excel because of the comfort they feel from belonging to a community.

At Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Kissimmee, Mrs. Jeanne Morgan is one of the faculty members creating a warm, welcoming environment. As a Second-Grade Teacher with nearly 40 years of experience, she was attracted to join a Catholic school because of this unique ability to gather as a loving, faith-filled community.

Learn more about Mrs. Morgan, why she loves being at a Catholic school, and how she teaches the whole child.

Finding Her Home at a Catholic School

Jeanne Morgan was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and frequently traveled during her early childhood due to her father’s career as an army officer. After living everywhere from Germany to New York to California, she settled in the Washington, D.C. area.

From a young age, she dreamed of being a teacher.

“I grew up in my mother’s classroom. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years,” she says. “I never wanted to be anything other than a teacher.”

Mrs. Morgan has taught first- and second-grade students during a career spanning over three decades. Nine years ago, she joined Holy Redeemer Catholic School and found it to be a true home.

She was welcomed into the family-centered community at Holy Redeemer, which brings together a diverse group of students, faculty, and families. Being at a Catholic school also gave her the ability to integrate her faith into the classroom for the first time.

“My first 29 years of teaching were in wonderful neighborhood schools, but teaching in a Catholic school is the ‘icing on the cake’ in terms of working religion into every subject in the day!”

Helping Students Reach Academic & Spiritual Milestones

Mrs. Morgan is committed to providing a safe, welcoming classroom environment where students can develop academically, socially, and spiritually. She makes it a priority to treat each child as a unique individual.

“I’ve learned to try to make a personal connection as soon as I can with each student, so they see me as an ally. I talk to my ‘school kids’ the way I spoke with my own children - firm, but fair!”

She engages students by using incredible books to “hook kids” into the subject matter while also advancing their reading and comprehension skills.

“Seeing the growth in kids from beginning to end of the school year is the most rewarding part of my job,” she says.

Another aspect she loves about being a second-grade teacher in a Catholic school is preparing her students for the Sacraments.

“Sacramental prep is my all-time favorite part of teaching at a Catholic school,” she says. “I consider it a privilege to be able to lead families through Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.”

Getting to Know Mrs. Morgan

Outside the classroom, here are some fun facts about Mrs. Morgan:

  • She loves going to Disney with her family, walking her dog, going to the library, baking, and knitting.

  • She has a 10-year-old mixed-breed dog named Roxie who is terrified of thunderstorms. She built a special shelter under the stairs where Roxie stays during bad weather.

  • Her favorite book is “The Great Adventure Bible” by Ascension Press.

  • She loves “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV.

  • If she could have one superpower, it would be to speak and understand every language.

  • Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7. “Dismiss all anxiety from your minds. Present your needs to God in every form of prayer and in petitions full of gratitude. Then God’s own peace, which is beyond all understanding, will stand guard over your hearts and minds, in Christ Jesus.”

  • Her favorite places to visit are the Outer Banks in North Carolina and the mountains where she went to college (James Madison University) in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

We share our gratitude for Mrs. Morgan for the experience and passion she brings to Holy Redeemer Catholic School!
